Rituals for a Sunny Start
Happy New Year! 2024 is here, in full swing! New Year’s Resolutions are wonderful, and the best way to maintain any new behavior is through a successful routing. Our favorite way to start a morning is with a mug of coffee, but other habits can help jumpstart your day and push you toward your goals! Below are some suggestions to make every morning a sunny start in 2024.
TIPS FOR PRODUCTIVE MORNINGS
Wake Up Early, The First Time
Waking up early is difficult for many people, but there are a few things you can do to smooth the way. Improving your sleep hygiene is important, so try sleeping as early as possible, limiting your screen time before bed, and scheduling some wind-down time. Once you fall asleep, wake up early, before dawn if possible, the first time your alarm clock rings. The snooze button is not your friend! Set your alarm clock to a time that is realistic for you and gradually adjust as you go.
Make Waking Up Easy
Once you’re awake, don’t give yourself time to fall back asleep or take another 10 minutes. Accomplishing small tasks in the morning will propel you towards success for the rest of your day. Wake up and make your bed. Then drink some water and hydrate yourself. Finally, stretch and move your body before you incorporate the rest of your routine.
Meditate
Meditation can be an important part of grounding and centering yourself so your morning starts smoothly. Don’t overthink meditation; if you’re not sure what to do, try a guided meditation tailored to your needs. If that doesn’t work, just focus on deep breathing exercises. Do what works for you; this is some time dedicated to you being with yourself in peace, focus on that.
Be Mindful
Think about your day, and practice mindfulness to orient you towards your goals. There are many things you can do here; maintain a journal practice, recite affirmations, scan your body, take a walk, garden, etc. This is time for you to dig deeper into the things that matter to you, ground you, and center you.
Eat a Healthy Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Preparing a well-rounded, nutritious breakfast and eating it is a basic that can’t be missed in any complete morning routine. Learn what foods make you feel good and incorporate them into your meal planning.
Drink Your Joe, and Go!
Drink your coffee and go about your day! Coffee (along with caffeine), is a wonderful assist in pushing you forward. Paired with a solid morning routine, coffee can make every day brighter. Don’t take our word for it! Try it yourself.
