Better Brews and Bakes
Tips on how to expedite your baking and brewing this season!
There are so many ways for baking and brewing to get overly complicated; extra steps, not having enough ingredients or tools. But preparing food for loved ones should be as smooth as possible. Check out these tricks and hacks for simplified baking and brewing, and remember to see the good! Brewing better is doing better.
🐮 French Press Frothing
Need some frothy fun, but don’t have a milk frother? Use your French press to froth warm milk. Pump the plunger up and down a few times to get a nice foam ideal as a garnish on all baked goods and coffee brews.
⏲️ Pre Measure Everything
One thing that is guaranteed to cut down on time is pre-measuring your ingredients so no do-overs are necessary! Measure dry ingredients like flour, sugar, and spices in advance, and store them in labeled bags. When it’s time to bake, skip the measuring and get straight to mixing.
🥚 Eggs, Eggs, Eggs
Unless you’re baking vegan goods, most recipes require eggs. There are a few ways to prevent any mix ups here:
- Use a light hand while mixing eggs to get an even, consistent mixture.
- Add one egg at a time to any mixture, allowing each egg to be fully mixed before the next to prevent clumping.
- Put your eggs in a bowl of warm water when coming out of the fridge for 5-10 minutes to quickly bring them to room temperature.
🥘 Pan Grease + Preparation
Preparing your pans properly is an important part of executing baked goods like brownies and cookies. Use parchment paper when possible to ensure quick clean up, and when you can’t make some pan grease in bulk at home to prevent extra grocery runs. Mix equal parts flour, oil, and shortening, and keep it in a jar. Use a pastry brush to coat baking pans quickly and easily.
🧊 Freeze Your Extra Coffee
Brewed too much? Freeze your coffee into ice cubes that you can mix in smoothies, milk, or other beverages of your choice.
☕️ Preheat Your Mugs
Pour hot water into your mug to preheat it before adding your coffee or espresso. This keeps your drink warmer for longer.
🏃♀️ Cold Brew in Bulk
Running around a lot this season? Brew a week’s worth of coffee at one time by cold brewing, and leave your coffee in the fridge, ready to drink when you need it. Learn more here.
